Chartboard.exe

The free Chartboard download integrates stock charting together with Modeling, Portfolio markups, python Advisor and Scanner scripts.

Select and install your Windows Chartboard implementation from the following list.

Startup

Chartboard has been implemented as a standard workspace type Windows application with the following start-up sequence. .

  1. Double click the Chartboard desktop icon.
    Alternatively, using Windows Explorer, double click the Chartboard.exe file residing in the install directory C:\Program Files\Chartboard\bin.
  2. Clicking the Chartboard application icon (top left corner) select the [Open…] menu item.
    Sample Chartboard workspace files may be located in the C:\Program Files\Chartboard\     WS&Attachments forlder .   Data stores may be attached to an existing workspace via the Ribbon Bar >> WS Attachments Tab >> Datastore >> Attach… item.
  3. Alternatively clicking the Chartboard application icon (top left corner) select the [New…] menu item.
    Select the name and destination of your new workspace and add folders, charts via the explorer buttons and context menus.
    New and or existing Datastore(s) will need to be attached to the new workspace via the Ribbon Bar >> WS Attachments Tab >>  Datastore Panel >> New… and Attach… items respectively.

Double clicking any file with the [.Msgraws] extension from Windows Explorer automatically performs the above sequence and opens the selected file.   Alternatively a shortcut may be created with the workspace name as a command argument.

Multiple instances of the Chartboard application may be run on one machine.   However, Chartboard workspaces may not be concurrently shared either on the same machine or across a network.

Operation

Chartboard application presents charts with possibly trillions of dynamically configurable properties, settings and format variants.   This is achieved with transparent simplicity utilising the following context sensitive techniques and minimal configuration dialogs.

  • Standard Ribbon bar UI implementation with both dynamic content and context.   Numerous tab switchable charts may be active.
  • Multiple dockable explorer bars for the organisation and management of both charts and data stores.   Bar operations performed through dedicated toolbars and context menus not unlike Windows file explorer.
  • Charts and data sets are managed through the UI Ribbon Bar and extensive context menus which always relate to the current viewed context.
  • Charts support Yearly, Quarterly, Monthly, Weekly and Daily period intervals with unique serialisation.   Charts can be completely restored to their previously serialised state.   Each chart transparently maintains its own state.
  • Extensive copy – paste facilities exist for both object transfer and format painting.   Existing charts may be templated via a copy – paste sequence.
  • Context sensitive grid properties are transparently exposed for the selected application item and/or chart objects.
  • Supports numerous customisable URL’s that may be displayed internally in a tabbed view or externally in the default browser.

In summary Chartboard is a point and click visual response to a complex requirement.   Remember if in doubt left click item for grid properties and/or right click the item for context menu options.
